- What if I want to make my booklet on Word?
(or another piece of software like Powerpoint)
Remember, you can make you booklet by handwriting it, drawing and colouring on it, cutting out photos and sticking them on - you do not need to make an electronic copy
However, if you want to use a Paul Johnson booklet design it will take a little bit of extra work. if you want a great creative I.T. challenge this week, this is a great learning opportunity, and will up-level your I.T. skills.

1. Reading Comprehension
As we have been looking at travelling to an unspoilt ecosystem, I thought it would be good to find a comprehension related to the problems we are causing to our environment on earth. I have found an interesting comprehension about how plastic is causing huge problems to our planet.

.
We've got some prefix work this morning, to keep those S.P.A.G. skills up to date.
Some of these are tricky; write out the sentence, completing the word needed by adding a prefix from the top of the page.
I have provided two levels of challenge:
When you have finished, you can mark your own work using the answer sheet provide here.
Thursday 18th June:
1. Writing
Using Vocabulary in Correct Context
Our vocabulary this week, comes from finding out about the problem of plastic on our planet. Choose wisely and challenge yourself - this is a great chance to level up that library of words in your head for future use.
Your task:
1. Choose 6 words (challenge yourself) from the list below.
.- you can use either of the two versions.
2. Write down the word, followed by what it means - its definition. Get used to using a real dictionary if you have one - if you haven't got one at homee, you could use an online dictionary.
Challenge 1:
Write a sentence using the word in its correct context.- so it makes sense in the situation you are writing about and you are using the correct meaning of the word.
Challenge 2:
Write a complex sentence, using linking punctuation ( ; - :), and using the word in its correct context.
Challenge 3:
When you have finished writing the definitions, include as many of the words as you can in one short paragraph. As we have visited the old shop of curiosities, this week's theme is 'The environment.'.
Obviously, you will be using a full range of punctuation to help really say what you mean to say - and now you are experts in using brackets.
impossible | existence | endanger / endangering |
biodegradable | consume / consumed | mistakenly |
attitude | poison / poisonous | reusable |
alarmingly | indefinitely | toxic |
Friday 19th June:
1. Writing:
This week has been full-on and we've had lots of varied work to fit in. So this morning, take the chance to finish everything off properly:
1. Complete your Pandora booklet - fill all those empty white spaces, check your spellings and vocabulary, and send me a picture.
2. Complete yesterdays science - including the stomata water experiment - remember to investigate the different leaves and write your thoughts about the differences between leaves (using clear, well punctuated sentences, and using the new scientific vocabulary we learnt about leaves yesterday), if you can, add a sketch of each different leaf, and the bubbles and where they appear.
We noticed today that the bubbles appear in distictively different places on different leaves - why?.)
3. Have you completed your Geography diagrams?
4. I have noticed many of you who have sent me your prefixes work, have not marked it - have a look at Wednesday's section,: there is an answer sheet to click on at the end !
5. There's always time to develop and improve those grafitti skills.
Finished Everything?
If you have worked exceptionally hard (thank you, you are amazing), and finished everything, here's a sneek peek at what we will be doing next week:
In design, we will be looking at bridge design, and building our own bridge challenge. (I'll add details on Tuesday). It would be great for you to have a look tody in advance at the various designs, and in particular the bridges designed by Isabard Kingdom Brunel, a famous Victorian engineer.
HEADS UP - ADVANCE WARNING -
A week on Tuesday, we will be using spaghetti and small cooking marshmallows to create bridge designs with a challenge. It would be great if you could get hold of these in the next 10 days so you can fully take part in an incredibly fun design, thinking and construction challenge.
