                               Instructions are in RED

                       Friday  24th April:

    1.  The Friday Puzzle Challenge

Max and Maxine went on a tour of a chocolate factory. At the end of the tour, they went to the reject room, where the tour guide gave Dennis a strange block of chocolate.

Max asked Maxine to give him half. Maxine thought for a long while, and then with a knife and a cup of hot water, carefully cut the block into two identical pieces without removing the knife ; the cut can change direction.

Can you work out where Maxine cut the block? The two pieces must be the same size and the same shape.

The answer will be revealed on Monday

     Thursday 23rd April:

    1.  Wednesday starter for maths brain switch on:

    The Answer

You know that the total number of persons is 32 , so every person knocks elbows hands with 31 people. It then mean that, there are 32  lots of 31 elbow knocks =  992 elbow knocks.

But in every elbow knock, two persons are involved,  so we only need to count it as one.

Therefore, 992 is the result of double-counting, which gives 496 elbow knocks  (we half 992)

     2.  Perimater fun - Step through a piece of paper:

You won't believe this,  but you really can step through a piece of paper.  2D shapes have a minimum size for the perimeter but there is no maximum - this trick shows it.  Click the link for instructions and amaze your family. (You'll need a piece of paper and scissors -so be careful).
