The chessboard cost £7.50 and the book cost £2.50.
Hands up who initially thought that the chess board was £10 and the book £2.50 ! - this is a common mistake: the difference between these answers is £2.50 but £2.50 plus £10 is not £2.50 as the answer wanted...:

There are 3 children in the queue. This shows that there are three different ways of describing each position.
2. Todays Challenge:
Big Ben, London's largest clock (although it is actually the bell which is called Big Ben), signals the time with loud bongs. If it takes 3 seconds to make 3 bongs at 3 o'clock, how many seconds does it take to make 6 bongs at 6 o'clock?
(Tip: Draw a number line type picture to help you see where the bongs are)
